My interest in medicine started when I was about 12 years old. I became sick with stomach and gastrointestinal problems, allergies, and problems with my menstrual cycle. Throughout my teen years and into my adult life, I suffered constantly with no real relief from any treatments from Western Medical Doctors. Over 20 years ago, I was again diagnosed with severe PMS, endometriosis, fibroids and cysts. For the second time a hysterectomy was recommended. I decided to try Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
After regular Acupuncture treatments, Chinese Herbal Medicine and dietary changes, it was not long before all of my symptoms were relieved. Not only did I avoid the surgery for a hysterectomy, but all of my women’s health issues have also been cured. Over the following years I continued to use Acupuncture and Chinese herbs for other health issues I had. These issues included long-term stomach problems, allergies, arthritis and constant knee pain from a previous surgery. All of these ailments have been cured or are, at least, well managed. In fact, Acupuncture and TCM have been my primary medical treatments for over 20 years.
As I continued to learn more about Acupuncture and TCM and other healing methods, I felt I would be well suited to treat others as well. I decided to go to school to study and learn which of the healing arts were possible for me. It didn’t take long for me to realize that TCM was the perfect choice.
In January 2010, I enrolled at SCUHS College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CAOM) from where I graduated on April 20, 2013 – cum laude – with my Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM). At the graduation ceremony, I received not only the Class Valedictorian Award, but also the Hua Tuo Award for being the outstanding clinical intern! What a huge accomplishment! You can watch her valedictorian speech for 2013 here. Cindy Valedictorian speech.
I am officially licensed by the State of California as an Acupuncturist and Oriental Medicine Practitioner and practiced Tradition Chinese Medicine and Herbology.
